Can I borrow books from other libraries?
Yes, if there is a book that the Banff Public Library does not have, library
staff will either purchase the book or borrow it for you from another
library through interlibrary loans. You can request books in person at
the Banff Public Library, by phoning us at 762-2661 or by sending an email
to books@banfflibrary.ab.ca.
Can I use my Banff Public Library card in Canmore?
No. However, if there are books you would like to borrow from the Canmore
Public Library (CPL), we can borrow them for you through our interlibrary
loan service. If you wish to go to the Canmore Public Library in person
to take out books, you can purchase a guest card there for an annual fee
of $12. The CPL guest card does not include extra services such as interlibrary
loans.
Can I use my Banff Public Library card at the Banff Centre
Library?
Yes. We have an agreement with the Banff Centre Library that Banff Public
Library (BPL) card-holders may use the Banff Centre Library at no charge.
We will issue you a special card to take to the Banff Centre Library.
Likewise, Banff Centre Library card-holders will be issued a special BPL
card free of charge that will allow them to borrow books from Banff Public
Library. Ask us for details.
Will I be able to use my Banff Public Library card at other
libraries in Alberta?
No. However, we will be happy to borrow books from other libraries for
you, through our interlibrary loan service.
Will Canmore residents be able to purchase a Banff Public
Library card?
Yes. Through a reciprocal agreement between Canmore and Banff Public Libraries,
Canmore residents will be able to purchase a guest card from BPL for an
annual fee of $12. The BPL guest card will permit Canmore residents to
borrow books directly from the Banff Public Library (but will not include
extra services, such as inter-library loans). Books borrowed from either
library may be returned to either Banff or Canmore.
