How much does a Banff Public Library card cost?
Library cards for residents of Banff and ID9 are free and will continue to be free. It is a Banff Public Library policy not to charge local residents for a library card.

Can I search the library’s catalogue from my home computer?
Yes. You can search the Banff Public Library’s collection, reserve books in our collection and renew your books from the comfort of your own home. Click here.

Can I borrow books from other libraries?
Yes, if there is a book that the Banff Public Library does not have, library staff will either purchase the book or borrow it for you from another library through interlibrary loans. You can request books in person at the Banff Public Library, by phoning us at 762-2661 or by sending an email to books@banfflibrary.ab.ca.

Can I use my Banff Public Library card in Canmore?
No. However, if there are books you would like to borrow from the Canmore Public Library (CPL), we can borrow them for you through our interlibrary loan service. If you wish to go to the Canmore Public Library in person to take out books, you can purchase a guest card there for an annual fee of $12. The CPL guest card does not include extra services such as interlibrary loans.

Can I use my Banff Public Library card at the Banff Centre Library?
Yes. We have an agreement with the Banff Centre Library that Banff Public Library (BPL) card-holders may use the Banff Centre Library at no charge. We will issue you a special card to take to the Banff Centre Library. Likewise, Banff Centre Library card-holders will be issued a special BPL card free of charge that will allow them to borrow books from Banff Public Library. Ask us for details.

Will I be able to use my Banff Public Library card at other libraries in Alberta?
No. However, we will be happy to borrow books from other libraries for you, through our interlibrary loan service.

Will Canmore residents be able to purchase a Banff Public Library card?
Yes. Through a reciprocal agreement between Canmore and Banff Public Libraries, Canmore residents will be able to purchase a guest card from BPL for an annual fee of $12. The BPL guest card will permit Canmore residents to borrow books directly from the Banff Public Library (but will not include extra services, such as inter-library loans). Books borrowed from either library may be returned to either Banff or Canmore.
