The Banff Public Library offers:
GET A LIBRARY CARD
Library cards are FREE to all residents of Banff and ID#9. To obtain a library
card, please present a piece of picture identification and proof of residency.
Residents of Canmore may obtain a guest membership for an annual fee of
$12.00. Non-Residents may obtain a membership for a non-refundable annual
fee of $60.00.
Please bring your library card with you every time you visit the library.
Your card permits you to borrow books, magazines, compact discs, videos,
DVDs, and audiotapes. You do not need a library card to attend library programmes,
use the Internet, or use materials within the library.
BORROWING BOOKS
Loan Period
Up to 25 items may be borrowed for three weeks; DVDs and videos may be borrowed
for one week .
Returns
All material may be returned to either the Banff or Canmore library. A 24-hour
outside book deposit is available for returns. Please return DVDs, videos,
compact discs and cassettes to the library desk.
Overdues
The library encourages the return of library materials on time so that they
may be available for others to borrow. Fines are by donation.
Renewals
You may renew
online, in person, or by phone at
762-2661 items which are not on hold for someone else. In special circumstances,
an extended loan period may be granted at the time material is borrowed.

Interlibrary Loan Service
If the library does not have a book that you are looking, please let library
staff know. We will either purchase the book for the collection or borrow
it from another library. Requests for books can be made in person, by phone
or by e-mail at
books@banfflibrary.ab.ca.
Holds/Reserves
Library materials may be reserved in person, by phone, fax or e-mail. You
will be notified when the item is available.
INTERNET ACCESS
The Library offers FREE Internet access for
research or other library-related
functions. Free Internet access is available on a first come, first
served basis..
One of the free access terminals is provided by the CAP-APLEN project. CAP
(Community Access Program) is a Government of Canada initiative, administered
by Industry Canada, which aims to provide Canadians with free Internet access
in public libraries across Canada. As part of this goal, CAP in association
with APLEN (Alberta Public Libraries Electronic Network), has provided funding
to install an Internet Station in every library in Alberta.
Use of Internet for
web-based e-mail costs $2.00 for 30
minutes or any part thereof. There is also a charge of $2.00 for 30 minutes
to connect to the library's
wireless network.
HOMEBOUND DELIVERY SERVICES
If you are unable to come to the library due to illness or lack of transportation,
library staff will happily deliver books, videos, DVDs, audiobooks and other
library materials right to your door. Please call the library to make arrangements
for this FREE service.
EXHIBIT SPACE FOR LOCAL ARTISTS
The library’s gallery space is available for local emerging artists/photographers
to display their art or photography free of charge. Artists may display
their work for one month.

MEETING FACILITIES
The library’s conference room is available for meeting use by community
groups during library hours. The maximum capacity is 20 people. There is
no charge to use the conference room for not-for-profit groups. For-profit
groups are charged a $35/day rental fee. All groups using the room are responsible
for clean up and tidying of the room.

BOW VALLEY LEARNING COUNCIL
Bow Valley Learning Council is comprised of 23 BVLC member
agencies committed to the philosophy of lifelong learning. The
council aim is to provide a variety of efficient credit and non-credit
classes and experiences for adult residents of the Bow Valley.
